Double Take

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) When it comes to overall production values this may be the best film of all time. Before you sputter and choke consider.

Overall production values include such things as lighting, casting, staging, continuity, script, camera work, editing, directing, scenery, pacing, ... basically the whole magilla.

At a time when Abbot & Costello where at their height of popularity horror films were in the wain. So rather than let a studio built, trained and honed to clockwork precision through Dracula, Frankenstein, several Wolfman files and who knows how many "Son of" films fall completely into disuse an attempt was made to match Abbot & Costello with the Horror Film genre. This was done to perfection in the one film, never to be repeated in such excellence. Let's face it Abbot & Costello Meet the Invisible Man could have gone unseen. ;-)

If you don't believe us then watch the film a few dozen times and you tell us whether you believe it stands up to the test of repeat viewing.

Not sure how to play a gMaze B.I.G. Adventure? Not to worry. A special Five-Minute Trainer has been written as an introduction to B.I.G.s and how they work.

eMail Under Attack

This week we've receive no less than eight (8) emails contining an attachment with a virus.

These emails are sneaky. The attachment is named something like "blahblah.doc.com". The idea is that hopefully we will not notice the extra .com and we'll view the attachment thinking it's a Word document.

The game seems to be one of stay awake and stay sharp or have your computer hosed with a virus. Well, since most of us don't stay that sharp all the time we need a few tricks to get through the new land mines. One such trick is to never "View" an attachment. Instead "Save" the attachment to your harddisk then open the attachment with the appropriate target program by hand. This is not as easy and we do lose the convenience of just clicking a button. But you do gain an all important opporunity to inspect the file name as you are saving it and you do gain the control over what program tries to open the file.

Santa's Toy Review

Wondering what to give that special person that has it all? How about something they are sure to enjoy -- and Indoor OutHouse. Sure plenty of homes have indoor plumbing. But how many have an OutHouse in the house?

Some folks complain that an outhouse would take up too much space and use up valuable closet space. Not to worry. This Indoor OutHouse is smaller than a lunch box. In fact, it could just be the perfect surprise gift for your loved one at the office. Take out the apple and put in an outhouse. Makes sense to us. But then again we seldom have folks ask us to make up a lunch more than once in a row.
